Tell us a little about yourself!
I am an intimate wedding and elopement photographer who loves a good laugh, expensive cheese, and anywhere that doesn’t require parallel parking. Having grown up next to the incredible Rocky Mountains, that’s where I spend my time chasing my couples around wildflower fields with my camera.
I am constantly driven by authentic connection, outrageous laughter, and intimate moments. I’m all about those barefoot, laid-back weddings, and couples who like to ditch tradition, explore, and get messy along the way. I think that a marriage is more beautiful than any wedding decor. And if your dress is dirty by the end of the night, we did it right.
I love travelling, and have been lucky enough to visit 42 insanely beautiful countries. When I am not away, I am home with my handsome honey, and my husky rescue.
How did you get started in wedding photography?
I studied photojournalism in college, where I fell in love with capturing moments and freezing them in time. I would shoot anything I could get my hands on, but fell in love with working specifically with couples + capturing their love stories.
What services/packages do you offer?
Elopement + Intimate Wedding Photography
Where is your favourite spot to shoot wedding photos around Banff + Canmore?
Banff + Canmore have SO much to offer, but a classic for me will always be Moraine Lake. Nothing compares to the feeling you get there and how it so truly represents Canada, and it’s majestic landscapes.
How would you describe your philosophy when it comes to shooting wedding photos and working with couples on the day?
Because of my photojournalism background, I love to observe, and capture those in-between moments. I think there is nothing that represents the human soul and emotion better than true candid photographs.
How would you describe your aesthetic?
Timeless and nostalgic, inspired by earth tones and natural environment.
What are the most frequently asked questions you hear from couples?
Do you work with videographers?
YES! I love working with videographers. It adds a team element to the day, where we get to discuss what will work and look best for both your images and your film.
We’re so awkward, do you have experience with people who do not like to be in front of the camera?
YES! This is 100% on me to make you feel comfortable. If you feel awkward and weird, then I am not doing my job right. I am here to capture YOU and pull that out of you.
What should we wear for our engagement photos?
I provide all of my clients with an engagement booklet that helps guide your decisions on outfits, colors, props, and locations. I also have a bride guide that helps set you up for success on your wedding day, that covers everything I have learned over my years of shooting weddings.
What is the most important advice you would give to couples when it comes to their wedding photos/choosing a wedding photographer?
It is absolutely imperative that you meet and vibe with your photographer. For me personally, I know that I am not the photographer for everyone – and that’s GOOD. Find your people. You’re going to get really close over time and spend one of the biggest days of your lives together. Find the people that feel like friends, not vendors.
What feedback do you hear most frequently from couples?
I often hear about how fun sessions are. A lot of people feel tense around the idea of a photoshoot, but I aim to make my sessions honestly just a fun time for you and your honey. I am NOT about posing you in awkward poses that aren’t you. I focus on movement, and an environment where you two can be true to who you actually are.
When thinking back over your photography career, are there any particularly funny moments, stories, or couples that stand out to you?
Honestly, my couples are all so epic. They are super chill, and looking to have the best time on their wedding day. I’ve spent hours in random fields with bridal parties taking some of the most ridiculous photos – but I truly believe that when you look back on your wedding album, you are going to want to remember how you felt in those moments.
“We were so glad to have Kadie capture our wedding, and be a part of our special day! She was super helpful, very genuine, and wildy adventurous – oh and a total blast to work with! Not only is she a super talented photographer, she is also someone you KNOW you are going to become fast friends with. When Kadie shot our wedding, she brought such an awesome energy to our day, but also wasn’t afraid to take charge. It’s very obvious she loves what she does, and loves capturing those special moments. My husband and I would absolutely recommend her for any couples dreaming of that wild elopement or intimate mountain weddings, she’s the best!”
